Rita Nascimento is a classically trained pastry chef. She’s had a sweet tooth ever since she can remember, and spent a great part of her childhood drooling outside bakery windows. She studied Theatre, but the love of sweetness was a higher calling that led her to train as a pastry chef in Spain, where she worked in several restaurants and bakeries. She also lived and worked in the USA, Italy and the UK, baking and collecting gastronomic experiences. In 2007 she returned to Portugal and for a few years worked at the world’s worst job (sarcasm alert): developing ice-cream flavours for an artisanal ice-cream brand. In 2014, she started her YouTube channel, La Dolce Rita, where she still shares sweet recipes weekly. She’s the author of six bestselling books of recipes for ice-creams, cookies, cakes, pastries and all kinds of sweets. Currently, she spends her time baking, testing and tasting recipes for her channel, her books and her pastry courses, which she teaches to gourmands all over the country.
